Bud Jablonski (Jamie Foxx) is a hard-working, blue-collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted 10-year-old daughter. His mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income: hunting and killing vampires.
Bud is part of a small team of vampire hunters who are paid by the vampire council to keep the undead population in check. The team is led by Big John (Snoop Dogg), a wisecracking veteran hunter.
When Bud's daughter, Becky, gets in trouble at school, he is forced to take on a dangerous new assignment: hunting down a powerful vampire named Audrey San Fernando (Karla Souza). Audrey is a real estate mogul who is planning to use her wealth and influence to take over the vampire world.
Bud must use all of his skills and cunning to stop Audrey and her plans for domination. Along the way, he will have to confront his own past and learn what it really means to be a father.
Day Shift received mixed reviews from critics, with some praising its action and humor, while others found it to be too formulaic. However, the film was a commercial success, becoming the most-watched film on Netflix in its opening weekend.
